I hate sleeping. In fact, I’d rather not sleep at all – just think of what I could get done with all that extra time. But, as much as I hate sleeping, I hate sleeping in even more, so this morning I was understandibly shocked to discover that I’d slept through not only summer but most of autumn as well.

It’s lucky we held off planting our tomatoes, broccoli, peppers and cucumbers until this coming weekend. They wouldn’t have liked this, I imagine.
Yep. It was a surprise alright. Hopefully, though, it will keep the next crop of mosquitoes from hatching as well as the ubiquitous blackfly. Although if that happens we won’t get any blueberries and the bears will be even more prevalent than they are now. We’ve got one snooping around already.
Anyway, the snow is all gone now. We didn’t even get a chance to make a snowman.

Crazy! And here we are with a week of temps in the mid +20’s!!! Did you pull the sled out?
No, I didn’t pull out the sled. It was mostly gone by mid-morning and the temperatures were around eight or so. Should’a gone out on the bike, though.
Wacky weather we’ve been having. Yesterday we had sun, rain, hail and snow. The snow didn’t accumulate here though. I noticed a couple of days ago that most of the flower buds on my lilacs have all turned brown and neither my grape vine or a new red delicious apple tree I planted last year made it through the winter. No more grape jelly for a while I guess, till my other newer vines start producing. Funny, the winter didn’t seem that cold.
I’m glad I’ve held off planting my garden. All I’ve got in so far are the onions. I used to aim to do my planting around the May 24 weekend but too many times we’d get a late frost. Now I usually wait until the first week of June or so, then I don’t end up having to re-plant.
